The much anticipated New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week began on February the 13th, showcasing Fall 2009 runway collections from high profile designers like Jason Wu and Rodarte as well as fashion veterans Dianne Von Furstenberg, Marchesa, etc. This event, a bit subdued amid the financial gloom and void of fashion powerhouses who opted out this year for smaller, more private shows -- like Vera Wang, continued on to define and mold trends for the upcoming fall season!
Rich, lavish colors -- velvet and rouge reds, dark tones, deep colored metallics seem to capture a new level of seriousness. Another common theme among designers this year is fur. I know animal lovers might be cringing at this moment, but designers will never cease to include hints of regal texture in their line-up.
How do you feel about the Fashion Week presentation this year?
Pleasantly surprised? Understated? Overrated? Please share your thoughts!
